Life is like a piano...What you get out of it depends on how you play it. "Sameness leaves us in peace but it is contradiction that makes us productive." Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe "Contradiction is not a sign of falsity, nor the lack of contradiction a sign of truth." Blaise PascalI'm a cross between the nerdy type and the sporty type, the serious type and the goofy type, the mature and the immature, a bookworm and a computer gamer, serious and happy-go-lucky, level-headed and hot-headed, an introvert and an extrovert, an idealist and a realist...an oxymoron? - maybe, but not an ox and a moron. =)I love reading books - my preferred genre varies though. A dose of Virgil, Plato and Thucydides on mornings, a bit of light classics in the afternoon, Michener's novels along with Clavell's with a dash of contemporary authors in the early evening, and just before sleeping legal thrillers, espionage, and other bestsellers.
I also enjoy reading books on international politics, history, and government.
Best of all, there's the Bible. The all-in-one book that seems full of contradictions but in reality is the only thing in this world with absolutely no contradictions. "...of making many books there is no end; and much study is weariness to the flesh." Ecclesiastes 12:12Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest...
"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Favorite Books: The Bible, Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird, Plato's The Republic and his Trial and Death of Socrates (Apologia), Allen Drury's Advise and Consent, Homer's The Iliad and The Odyssey, David Guterson's Snow Falling on Cedars, Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, Sun Tzu's The Art of War, William Shakespeare's Henry IV, Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace and Anna Karenina, James Michener's Poland / Sayonara / Chesapeake / Centennial / The Source / Texas, James Clavell's Shogun / Taipan / Noble House / King Rat, Margaret Mitchell's Gone With The Wind, Leon Uris' QBVII / Exodus / Battle Cry, Machiavelli's The Prince, Meyer Levin's The Settlers, John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, Sophocles' Oedipus Rex, Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, Virgil's Aenid, Marek Halter's The Book of Abraham, William Golding's The Lord of the Flies, O Jerusalem!, Andersonville, Rutherford's London / Russka, Ben Hur, Xenophon's Anabasis and Memorabilia, Sinclair Lewis' Arrowsmith, Charles Dickens' Pickwick Papers and A Tale of Two Cities, Thoreau's Civil Disobedience, Barbarians at the Gate, Locke's Two Treatises of Government, Sidney Sheldon's novels, John Grisham's Novels, Robert Ludlum's Bourne Trilogy, Paine's Common Sense
